2-1-1 is an easy to remember phone number connecting people with free information on available community services including those that serve the well-being of older adults. When you dial 2-1-1, a trained professional will listen to your situation and suggest sources of help using one of the largest databases of health and human services in Virginia.

 

Request for Proposals

The Council of Community Services releases Request for Proposals for a Statewide Automatic Call Distribution Linking 2-1-1 VIRGINIA Call Centers.  The deadline for proposals is Friday, April 16, 2010.  A letter of intent to submit is requested by March 30, 2010.  Contact barbp@councilofcommunityservices.org for more information.

The Council of Community Services’ 2-1-1 VIRGINIA –Southwest Region is one of the 6 regional 2-1-1 VIRGINIA centers. 2-1-1 VIRGINIA offers free information on a wide variety of services including health, human services, elder programs, day care, recreation and more. AIRS Certification

The Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) is an international association comprised of over 1,200 members, most of which are agencies. The mission of AIRS is to advance the capacity of information and referral programs to better serve their communities.

The AIRS Certification Program awards professional credentials internationally to individuals who successfully complete the appropriate AIRS Certification Program for information and referral practitioners. It is an acknowledgment of demonstrated competence in the field of information and referral.

NIMS Certification

The Council of Community Services is working towards having multiple staff members trained in Disaster Preparedness and Response.
