Ryan White Program
In 1991 the Council of Community Services became lead agent for the Southwest/Piedmont HIV Care Consortium (S/PHCC) in central, Southside and Southwest Virginia. This coalition of agencies and individuals has provided HIV medical care and support services through local subcontractor sites in Covington, Danville, Floyd, Giles, Lynchburg, Marion, Christiansburg, Pulaski, Roanoke and Radford
S/PHCC Mission Statement:
To improve the quality, availability and organization of health care and support services for individuals and families who are infected and affected by HIV.
Virginia HIV/AIDS Resource and Consultation Center (VHARCC)
In 2004 the Council of Community Services became a part of the Virginia HIV/AIDS Resource and Consultation Center (VHARCC) system. Five regional resource centers work with government agencies, professional associations, and academic and community healthcare providers. VHARCC offers multidisciplinary educational programs, expanding clinical programs, and consultations on HIV/AIDS-related issues. VHARCC also supports anonymous HIV testing and counseling, and offers clinical training.
VHARCC Mission Statement:
To expand quality care for persons living with HIV/AIDS and to focus on care and prevention through multidisciplinary educational programming for healthcare providers practicing throughout Virginia.
